The quake was centered 3.3 miles northwest of Malibu and was the third earthquake of magnitude 3.4 or greater in the past five days centered in Malibu.

A magnitude-3.6 earthquake rattled the Malibu area early Monday, according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake was reported at 4:22 a.m. on Monday and had a depth of about 6.5 miles. Over 1,000 people reported having felt the shaking on the USGS Felt Report.

Three other earthquakes jolted Malibu on Monday morning. Two 1.4 magnitude earthquakes occurred an hour apart around 3 a.m. and a 3.6 magnitude earthquake occurred at 4:24 a.m. no damage has been reported thus far.
